I-80 westbound Exit 34B to Route 15 northbound to be closed Friday night for bridge repairs in Wharton, Morris County
Route 15 right and center lanes also closed overnight
(Trenton) – I-80 westbound Exit 34B/Jefferson/Sparta is scheduled to be closed and detoured on Friday night for routine concrete bridge deck repairs in Wharton, Morris County. In addition, the Route 15 northbound right and center lanes are scheduled to be closed at the same time.
Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, July 18 until 6 a.m. Saturday, July 19, I-80 westbound Exit 34B/Jefferson/Sparta is scheduled to be closed and detoured. In addition, the Route 15 northbound right and center lanes will be closed on the Bridge over Green Pond Brook at Milepost 2.3, where traffic from the I-80 westbound Exit 34B ramp merges with Route 15. The left lane on Route 15 northbound will remain open. The closures are necessary for routine concrete repairs to the bridge deck. The following detour will be in place Friday night:
I-80 westbound at Exit 34B Detour:
Motorists on I-80 westbound wishing to take Exit 34B to Route 15 North/Jefferson/Sparta will be directed to take Exit 34A/Route 15 South/Wharton
Keep right on Route 15 southbound
Turn right on East Dewey Avenue
Turn right on North Main Street
Stay in the right lane and follow signs for Route 15 North/Picatinny Arsenal
At the traffic signal, merge onto Route 15 northbound
This work is part of a $16.4 million state-funded maintenance project that will make concrete structural repairs in various locations throughout Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
