I-80 westbound Exit 34B to Route 15 northbound daytime lane closures this week for bridge repairs in Morris County

Closures necessary for emergency bridge deck repairs

(Trenton) – The I-80 westbound Exit 34B ramp to Route 15 northbound is scheduled to have daytime lane closures this week for emergency bridge deck repairs in Wharton and Rockaway, Morris County. 

From 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, April 8 and again on Thursday, April 9 at the same time, the I-80 westbound Exit 34B ramp to Route 15 northbound is scheduled to have a single lane closed for emergency deck repairs to the Route 15 northbound Bridge over the Abandoned Mount Hope Mineral Railroad. If work is not completed on Thursday, it will continue on Friday, April 10 at the same time.

The bridge has three lanes. The left lane on the I-80 westbound Exit 34B ramp, which becomes the center lane on the bridge, was closed this morning at 6 a.m. to allow emergency repairs to the bridge deck. The lane is expected to reopen at 2 p.m. 

On Wednesday, the left lane on the I-80 westbound Exit 34B ramp to Route 15 northbound is scheduled to be closed with traffic using the right lane. The Route 15 northbound ramp will be shifted to the center lane on the bridge to allow repairs to the left lane.

On Thursday, the right lane on the I-80 westbound Exit 34B ramp to Route 15 northbound is scheduled to be closed with traffic using the left lane, which becomes the center lane on the bridge. The closure is necessary to make emergency deck repairs to the right lane of the bridge. Traffic on the Route 15 northbound ramp will be unaffected. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays when traveling through the work zone.

The work is part of the $23.2 million federally funded project that will replace the existing Route 15 northbound Bridge over Abandoned Mount Hope Mineral Railroad in Wharton and Rockaway, Morris County. In addition, a storm water detention basin will be constructed, and a portion of Route 15 northbound and I-80 westbound the exit ramp to Route 15 northbound will be resurfaced.
