Bridge Repairs on Minnisink Rd Starting 8/11

Minnisink Road Bridge Repairs Begin Monday, Aug. 11

One-Lane Traffic To Be Maintained During Project

Beginning Monday, Aug. 11, Morris County has scheduled emergency repair work on Bridge No. 1400-829 on Minnisink Road, which carries traffic over a tributary to the Rockaway River at the border of Roxbury and Jefferson townships.

Road work sign

Work is scheduled to occur on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and is expected to take three to four weeks to complete, weather permitting.  Temporary traffic signals will be in place to restrict motorists to one lane of alternating traffic through the work zone for the duration of the project.

The bridge includes a stone masonry arch structure that was previously widened with 30-inch corrugated metal and reinforced concrete pipes forming a culvert beneath the roadway, which spans 45 feet wide. The upcoming work will involve full replacement of the culvert within the roadway using a new 36-inch reinforced concrete pipe, designed to improve water flow and extend the life of the structure.

The project is being carried out by Sparwick Contracting Inc., of Lafayette, New Jersey, under a $180,980 contract fully funded by Morris County.
