B. Marlene Colabella Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Hopatcong Woman's Club has awarded two $1,500 scholarships in memory of B. Marlene Colabella, a beloved member of our club. Both are high school students living in Hopatcong. Our scholarship winners are amazing.

Brenna Loven has taken challenging classes and is 4 out of a class of 108 students. She has been also active in extracurricular activities. Brenna has been color guard in the marching band for 4 years as well as playing varsity tennis, competitive dance, academic team, and literary magazine. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Brenna plans to study Chemistry/Pharmacologist and career goal is to be Pharmacologist. She wants a career that empowers her to make a significant difference in other people’s lives. She will be attending University of Pittsburgh.

Katya Daly has earned high honor grades. Katya is 9 out of 108 students. She has been quite active in the music program for 6 years. Katya has been in the marching band, jazz band and various other music groups at Hopatcong High School. Also, she is in the National Honor Society and on the Academic Team. She had a job as a lifeguard and taught swimming. Kayta's plan is to major in criminology at the University of Maryland, one of the top criminology programs in the United States. Her goal is to be a police detective.

Both students joined us at Cinders Wood Fire Grill of Mine Hill on May 15th for our end-of-season luncheon.

Parents Heather Loven accompanied Brenna and Drew Daly accompanied his daughter Katya. It was lovely to meet these girls and hear from them how much our scholarship help means to them.

The Hopatcong Woman’s Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month (from September to May) at the Elba Point Beach Club building located at 30 Ithanell Rd, Hopatcong, at 10:30am.
