The Borough of Hopatcong Flag Design Contest is open to all Hopatcong resident’s past and present.
Entries must include signed Flag Design Contest Application & Entrant Agreement Entries must be received by 4:00pm on Monday April 15, 2024.
Designs must be submitted either as a 3x5 inch drawing (in color) or JPEG/PDF/Vector Image.
Entrants should follow the Five Basic Principals of Flag Design by the North American Vexillological Association. Keep it simple. The flag should be so simple that a child can draw it from memory. Use meaningful symbolism. The flag’s image, color, or patterns and should relate to what it symbolizes. Use 2-3 basic colors. Limit the number of colors on the flag to three, which contrast well and come from the standard color set. No lettering or seals of any kind. Never use writing of any kind or an organizations seal. These get small and blurry and can’t be understood from a distance.
NOTE: The use of the Borough’s logo is allowed, as well as limited use of lettering. Be distinctive or be related. Avoid duplicating other flags but use similarities to show connections.
A committee will review all submitted entries and select a winning design that will be adopted as the Flag of Hopatcong Borough and presented at the Hopatcong Flag Day Parade on June 15, 2024.
