Renowned for his vivid and imaginative work in fantasy and science fiction, Hildebrandt rose to prominence alongside his twin brother Tim as one half of The Brothers Hildebrandt. Together, they created iconic illustrations including the original Star Wars poster for the British and U.S. theatrical releases and the Lord of the Rings calendar artwork of the late 1970s. His career also featured extensive work with Marvel Comics, including 158 paintings for the Marvel Masterpieces trading card set, and a decades-long artistic partnership with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

The exhibit will feature a curated selection of Hildebrandt’s paintings, sketches, and illustrations spanning a wide range of themes, from fantasy and sci-fi to pin-up art, personal portraits, and religious imagery.

The show will begin with a special members-only reception on Thursday, June 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The evening will feature remarks by Jean Scrocco, wife of the late artist and Director of Spiderweb Art Gallery, along with light refreshments and a prosecco toast. Space is limited, and reservations are required. To RSVP, check your membership status, or become a member, please contact Caitlin at 973-663-2500.

The exhibit will then open to the public with no registration required. Viewing hours are Friday, June 20, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm; Saturday, June 21, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm; Sunday, June 22, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm; and Monday, June 23, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is free, and donations are welcome.

A selection of books, posters, prints, and artwork, some signed, will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Lake Hopatcong Foundation.

This special presentation highlights the work of a renowned artist with deep ties to the Lake Hopatcong community and is made possible through the generosity of Jean Scrocco and the team at Spiderweb Art Gallery (spiderwebart.com).

“We are so grateful to Jean Scrocco and the entire Spiderweb Art Gallery team for collaborating with us on this exhibit, which represents just a small slice of Greg Hildebrandt’s prolific body of work,” said Lake Hopatcong Foundation Development Director Caitlin Doran. “Greg is missed by many around Lake Hopatcong and beyond, not only for his extraordinary talent as an artist, but also for his humble, humorous, and compassionate spirit.”
