RANDOLPH, N.J., October 31, 2023—Morris Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors has named Liz DeCoursey as its next Chief Executive Officer. DeCoursey most recently served as Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Real Estate for the affordable housing organization serving Morris and Middlesex Counties, as well as the Greater Plainfield area.

“Throughout her 18-year tenure, Liz has demonstrated exemplary leadership, fostering collaboration among our staff, volunteers, and partners,” said Richard Barrett, president of the board of directors. “Her ability to engage with the community and her expertise in nonprofit management have been instrumental in advancing our mission of providing safe and affordable housing to those in need. Liz's passion and deep understanding of our organization's values and goals make her the ideal candidate for the position of CEO.”

“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead Morris Habitat for Humanity as its next CEO,” said DeCoursey. “My vision for the organization is one of innovation and continued growth. I believe that by embracing new opportunities and challenges, we can broaden our impact and serve even more families. This vision includes expanding and deepening our reach and impact in Middlesex County.”

In 2020, Morris Habitat expanded by acquiring the service area of the Greater Plainfield & Middlesex County Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Both affiliates have long histories of helping families in their communities and the consolidation strengthened the organization’s ability to meet the shortage of affordable housing in New Jersey. The acquisition effectively doubled Morris Habitat’s service area to 68 municipalities spanning 1,000 square miles in north and central New Jersey.

Morris Habitat for Humanity builds more than just homes—the organization empowers families to build brighter futures for generations to come. Home is the foundation to achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance that people need to shape a better tomorrow for themselves and their families. Additionally, every home constructed helps to strengthen the fabric and economies of local communities for all citizens.
