Olympic gold medalists and other top sailors will be descending on the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club the last weekend in May for the 51st annual Tomahawk Regatta.
Mark Reynolds (two-time gold medalist and one-time silver medalist), Peter Bromby (multiple Olympican, three-time Bacardi Cup winner), Phil Trinter (2004 Olympian, Star World Champion, and three-time America's Cup crew), and LHYC member Rick Merriman (United States Youth Singlehanded champion, college all-American, and Etchells world champion) are among the dozens of sailors who will be sailing Stars, a two-person, two-sail keelboat, on the main lake on May 30 and 31.
Last year's event, the 50th celebration, also drew world-class sailors—as well as heavy winds and an exciting finish. Bromby, who hails from Bermuda, is the reigning champion, along with his crew, East Hanover's Brian Murphy.
