Mount Arlington Tree Lighting

Santa came into Mount Arlington Friday night, hitching a ride with the fire department, who took him to Memorial Park for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The gentle rain did not dampen the spirits of the crowd, estimated to be about 125 strong, including Brownie Troop 94597, who entertained the visitors with holiday songs. Mayor Arthur R. Ondish and the borough recreation board hosted the event.
With the tree illuminating the way, the crowd made its way from Memorial Park down to the Civic Center for refreshments, provided by the borough recreation board, who served cookies, candy, brownies and approximately six gallons of hot chocolate. Santa arrived a few minutes later and took his place next to the Christmas tree and was available for photos.
