KDC William G. Clark Fishing Outing

The Knee Deep Club held its annual kids fishing day at the Fishing Education Memorial Pond on Weldon Road in Jefferson on Saturday morning, Sept. 28. The event is held yearly in the memory of Bill Clark who was instrumental in the concept and creation of making the pond, located just across the street from Jefferson Township High School, a sustainable fishery.
Clark was an avid fisherman and outdoor activist, and former trustee of the Knee Deep Club. Only a few children participated in Saturday’s event, with many sunfish caught, and even a very nice largemouth bass.
The Knee Deep Club supplied the rods and reels and also put out some cake and refreshments for the children to enjoy. Laurie Murphy from Dow’s Boat Rental of Lake Hopatcong donated bait.
According to Jim Salerno, Knee Deep Club director, the event “is a great way to introduce the catch and release fishing techniques to young anglers.”
Several club trustees volunteered at the event.
