Fishing Gear and More on the Block at KDC Auction

The Knee Deep Club of Lake Hopatcong will be holding an auction on the Friday October 8th at the Hopatcong Civic Center on Lakeside Blvd. in Hopatcong Borough with the preview starting at 7:30 PM and Auction lots being called starting at around 8:30 PM. Many of the items can be viewed at the club’s website, kneedeepclub.org.
This year’s Knee Deep Club Auction, which is open to the public, has a wide variety of items that includes not just the usual fishing tackle, but everything from a small child’s bicycle, to a collection of military bayonets with some dating back to the 1800’s! There’s also some vintage collectible fishing tackle to be had.
A good amount of bow hunting equipment will be on hand including three recurve bows and one BEAR aluminum compound bow, along w/ a box vintage wooden shaft custom fletched arrows made by Jack O’Leary w/ broad head tips.
In the fishing category there’s too much to list but you’ll find several tackle boxes pack full of lures along with several rod & reel combos. Among the many reels being offered up are a couple of top quality trolling reels and several vintage Mitchell reels that can be used to fish or added to your collection.
Boating equipment includes a top of the line Minn Kota Trolling motor, down riggers and tons of gadgets for both your boat & fishing.
There are also many decorative type items perfect for the home, boathouse or cabin. One area that is very well represented is ice fishing equipment which includes a Jiffy Power Auger, hand auger, a Frabill ice sled w/ wind break packed full of equipment and much more. So if you’ve always wanted to try your hand at hard water fishing you don’t want to miss this auction
There’s some camping equipment, golf equipment, a great set of Rossingnol skis & boots, a Kero space heater and even a cord of delivered seasoned firewood.
One highlight is sure to be two extraordinary hand carved wooden duck decoys, carved for this auction and donated by world renowned Princeton artist and KDC member John Ptts. John has won over 600 awards and one of his carvings was selected for the 2004 New Jersey Water Fowl stamp. This is an opportunity to acquire a true piece of art at a reasonable price.
So as you can see this auction offers something for everyone and is sure to be a fun night out with lots of bargains to be had. So the club invites you to attend and recommends you bid early and often. All proceeds go to fund many of the club’s lake wide environmental efforts.
Preview will begin at 7:30 PM, stop for a very abbreviated club business meeting and additional preview time allowed before lots are called beginning around 8:30. This is an “as is, where is” Auction, all sales are final. There will be no buyer’s premium or sales tax. Cash or checks with verification of address are accepted and all items must be paid for and removed the night of the sale. The Hopatcong Civic is about one mile north of Hopatcong State Park on Lakeside Blvd.
