Vaudeville Comedy Magic Show Debuts at Sparta Ave Stage on Saturday October 7

National touring comedians and magicians will step into the spotlight at the Sparta Ave Stage on Saturday, October 7 to deliver a night of laughter and entertainment on a new showcase dubbed, “Visions of Vaudeville: A vaudeville style variety show, with no variety.”

“This beautiful little magic theater in Sparta is the perfect venue for the show I’ve been envisioning. We won’t be doing exactly what they did back then– it’ll be a modern version of vaudeville. Though all performers happen to be ghastly pale men, rest assured there will be no minstrel shows,” said producer Vinnie Vitale, who will host the October 7th showcase featuring top industry talent.

Stage, television, parlor, walk-around and street magic have been a lifetime focus for Al Callus. At age 15, he introduced his comedy Magical Medicine Show act in Times Square, becoming one of the earliest and undoubtedly youngest street magicians. In high school, he rented theaters for his popular, sold-out children’s shows. As president of FAME, a New York City club for young entertainers, Callus followed in the footsteps of his well-known predecessors. As the Bob Hope of Army Special Services, he performed hundreds of times for servicemen both in the U.S. and in Europe, and many other venues including television. For the past 25 years, he’s been regularly entertaining audiences at country clubs, cruise ships, private parties, theaters and comedy clubs.

Joe Russell started telling jokes in front of the people when he was a professional magician based in Buffalo. He did magic for fifteen years before moving to New York City to do stand-up comedy. Russell now plays clubs across the country and is a regular guest of Robert Kelly’s YKWD podcast. He also hosts a popular YouTube show with his girlfriend called “The Olivia and Joe Cheese Show”.

Daniel Crow has been performing stand-up since he was 19 years old. He is 31 now, but looks much worse, so in that sense it’s like he’s been performing for 20 years. Daniel has been featured on AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, Sirius XM, opened for Rob Schneider, and appeared on the popular podcast “Guys We F*cked”. Daniel has performed in 48 states, Canada, and Europe.

Joe Garsetti is a skilled magician and illusionist. Originally from Huntington, Long Island, he has lived in Sparta since 1984. He has performed throughout the country, from the Seattle Aquarium to the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas and the NJ State Fair in the Meadowlands, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Idaho. Garsetti is well known in the magic community as that “dove guy” for his award-winning dove act. He also creates and builds his own illusions, often to advance a particular story line or comedy premise.

Vinnie Vitale started doing stand-up in 2010 on the NYC comedy scene, where he performed at major clubs including Caroline’s on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club, Stand Up NY, and regularly produced shows at Broadway Comedy Club, The Grisly Pear and Maxwell’s Tavern in Hoboken. He has been cast on TV shows for MTV, Fox, ABC, and was the first guest on a breakout podcast that got featured on the Huffington Post and topped the iTunes charts. He currently hosts a cabaret show at Crystal Springs Resort and manages a stand-up comedy training school, Free Spirit Comedy.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. showtime. Ages 18 and over.

About Sparta Avenue Stage

In 2010, Joe Garsetti and his wife Diane purchased the old ambulance squad building and in 2012 opened the Sparta Ave Stage: a small, intimate 66-seat magical theatre designed for magicians, comedians and other performers. Over the past 10 years, they have hosted some of the finest magicians in the world, from Australia, France, Argentina, Brazil and England. The Sparta Ave Stage is considered by many magicians to be one of the finest venues in the country for magicians to perform. It’s a wonderful intimate space to experience the wonder of exceptional magic.
