The Jefferson Arts Committee Celebrates Selection as a Stop & Shop Community Bag Program Beneficiary
The Jefferson Arts Committee (JAC) has been selected as a beneficiary of the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program for the month of March. The Stop & Shop Community Bag Program, which launched in May 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work. The JAC was selected as the March beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Stop & Shop located at Sparta.
The JAC will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during March, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag. “We are very excited to be the beneficiary of the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program especially during this difficult time when we, as well as other non-profit organizations, had to cancel all our 2020 fundraisers and anticipate that most fundraisers and activities involving large gatherings will also have to be canceled this year as the pandemic continues and restrictions are in place”, said Carol Punturieri, President of the JAC.
The JAC is a non-profit based in Jefferson Township, NJ. Founded in 1987, the non-profit 501 3c organization has been involved in the community providing cultural activities for the residents of Jefferson Township and its neighboring communities, promoting an active interest in cultural affairs for the community, and encouraging participation of youth in these activities. The Jefferson Township Community Concert and Jazz Bands, the Jefferson Township Community Chorus, and the Jefferson Community Players are performing arts groups under the JAC’s umbrella. The JAC also sponsors the Student Artists of the Month program, hosts free summer gazebo concerts, coordinates the annual Christmas in the Village event, and for 30 years ran Jefferson Township Day/Jefferson Fest. In addition, they offer two scholarships each year to a graduating senior pursing an education in the arts, run bus trips to Broadway and other venues, and host events such as Country Line Dancing, Designer Handbag Bingo/Tricky Tray, and special concerts and events.
