NJSFWC Clubwomen Hold Day of Service

To celebrate the 127th Anniversary of the founding of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs of GFWC (NJSFWC), members from across the state will come together at one of eight (8) district collection sites on Saturday, November 13th, 2021, for our Federation Day of Service. This year’s chosen charity is Covenant House New Jersey, which has nine different sites for youth who have been on the streets due to untenable situations at home.

Members are collecting $10 denomination gift cards from Visa, American Express, Walmart, Target, ShopRite and Dunkin Donuts to bring to the collection site on November 13th. At the collection sites, members will be making December Holidays, birthday and “thinking of you” greeting cards to let the teens know we are thinking of them, and the staff can give them out when needed.

If you would like to contribute or participate, please contact NJSFWC Headquarters at (732) 249-5474 between 9 and 4, Monday through Thursday. They will be able to give you the information about the collection site nearest you and the hours.

After being separated by Covid-19 for so long, this is a wonderful opportunity for members across the state to work together to help teens across NJ. New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, founded in 1894, has its Headquarters on the Douglass Residential Campus, in New Brunswick. The college, formerly Douglass College, was established by NJSFWC in 1918.

To learn more about NJSFWC and membership in a local club, visit www.NJSFWC.org or call (732) 249-5474. For more information regarding the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, contact www.GFWC.org. Opportunities are provided for women in education, leadership training, and community service projects through participation in local clubs, enabling members “to make a difference in the lives of others, one project at a time”.
