Hopatcong Woman’s Club Plants Pinwheel Garden to Fight Child Abuse
Members of the Hopatcong Woman’s Club gathered on a sunny weekday morning to plant brilliant blue pinwheels in a section of Modick Park. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the pinwheels are attention-getting symbols meant to raise awareness of the issue in the general community. For more information: www.preventchildabuse.org
Present this year for the planting were President Pat Beach (taking photo), and from L: Diane Ottman, Ellen Buongiorno, Pat Hofmann and Mary-Jeanne Smith.
In addition to this effort, our club continues to support the community’s local food bank, DASI, and I Support the Girls. We are also giving two high school scholarships to High School Seniors living in Hopatcong and a woman from Hopatcong returning for further education. Please contact for more information on any of these initiatives.
The Hopatcong Woman’s Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month (next meeting, Wednesday, April 21) at the Elba Point Beach Club building located at 30 Ithanell Rd, Hopatcong, at 10:30am. After a winter of ZOOM meetings, we will be happy to see everyone in person, in a COVID-compliant manner. There is no fee for attending a meeting and all are welcome.
