Headlines from the Homestead

What a fantastic summer it has been. We hope that you had a great summer too! Within the past few years, our team has been working tirelessly to lay the groundwork for Rebecca's Homestead. This summer we got back to work and we were able to focus on putting the "Home" in Homestead. Follow along to see what we accomplished this summer with the help our volunteers, friends, and the community; and also what exciting events we have planned for the future!

A Garden With Many Gifts!

This summer's harvest brought more than just the vegetables and herbs we would normally get: Our garden also brought us an interactive learning tool, a way to meet new friends in our community, and a place to make new memories!

We were able to work with differently abled adults in our garden, learning about organic growing and harvesting. At the end of July, we held a food preservation get-together in which we made 20 jars of pickles using our fresh supplies! It was super exciting to be able to use our garden for fundraising as well, when we opened our first weekend farm stand and met other members of the community.

Providing a Better Place to Live

Since day one, Rebecca’s Homestead has strived to create a comfortable and beautiful place to live. This summer, our volunteers planted flowers outside the property and personalized the bedrooms by painting murals. Milestones were celebrated with friends and family when we all came together for Rebecca’s birthday.

We also introduced our Sunday Funday Series where we have learned the importance of expression through painting and teamed up with GYMGUYZ to exercise together!

We have taken some big steps this summer, but we aren’t finished yet! Keep in touch with us as we celebrate our 4th Annual Banquet, September to Remember and as we welcome our new residents into the Homestead!
