Food Donations are Desperately Needed

For many years, The Hopatcong Woman’s Club has led an effort to collect food and provide the West Methodist Church’s Food Pantry in Hopatcong with supplies for those in need in our community. Non-perishable items are collected and weighed (as a way to measure the quantity) before taking them to the pantry.  We are proud to report that we have supplied over 8,000 lbs. of food annually for the past several years, and it has been much appreciated.

We now have a problem. Donations are significantly down, due to a local postmaster no longer allowing food to be collected in our bins in the Hopatcong Post Office. We have tried to come to an agreement, based on community need, to no avail. Our bins are now located immediately inside the Borough Hall doors, in the lobby. We encourage all who used to frequent the Post Office with their donations to please consider visiting Borough Hall, just across the intersection. The pantry is suffering without our assistance. Cold weather is coming, and inflation has created an even greater need for many. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

The Hopatcong Woman’s Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month (from September to May) at the Elba Point Beach Club building located at 30 Ithanell Rd, Hopatcong, at 10:30am. There is no fee for attending a meeting and all are welcome. Follow us on Facebook!
