Berkshire Valley Road Work Begins in Jefferson After Memorial Day
Preliminary Tree Cutting and Guard Rail Work Starts Tuesday, June 1
Motorists returning to work after the holiday weekend should be prepared for the start of some preliminary roadwork along Berkshire Valley Road in Jefferson Township as a milling and paving project gets underway on Tuesday, June 1.
The $843,828 Morris County project involves a 2.1-mile stretch of road between Taylor Road and Blue Road. Work will begin with tree removal, focusing on ash trees of up to 36 inches in diameter, which are being decimated by an invasive insect, the Emerald Ash Borer. Guiderail construction also will begin, followed by milling of the road by about June 6.
The roadway will be repaved, with rumble strip and fog seal strips put in place. No detours are planned, but traffic flow will be controlled around the work areas. Riverview Paving Inc. is the contractor on the job.
No detours are planned, but traffic flow along Berkshire Valley Road will be alternated as workers direct motorists around the work areas.
