Two-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time Bacardi Cup winner Mark Reynolds, sailing with local sailor Kevin Murphy, leads after one day of racing in the 52nd annual Tomahawk Regatta out of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club this weekend. Reynolds, who had top-three finishes in all three races on Saturday, leads the field of 23 boats, which includes such noted sailors as Magnus Liljedahl (Reynolds' crew and fellow gold medalist in the 2000 Sydney Olympics) and three-time Bacardi Cup winner Peter Bromby of Bermuda. The races took place on the main lake, with moderate breeze. The Tomahawk Regatta is in its 52nd year, and in the last three years in particular it has drawn top sailors from around the world. The Star is a two-person keelboat that is raced in the Olympics—and most summer weekends out of the LHYC. Racing continues Sunday morning, with Reynolds hoping to maintain his narrow lead on the fleet.
