Miss Lotta captains take oath

JEFFERSON – Three local residents have been named to the position of captain of the new dinner cruise/tour boat, the Miss Lotta, scheduled to sail on Lake Hopatcong in late May. Two of the three captains took their Merchant Mariner Oath Tuesday morning.
In a short ceremony held on the upper deck of the Miss Lotta, Lee Moreau from Mount Arlington and Tom Bush from the Woodport section of Jefferson stood before Notary Public Eden Blazovic and recited the 55-word oath. The third captain, Tom Costigan, from Lake Forest, has been a licensed master captain since 2004, delivering boats up and down the Atlantic coast. He was present at the ceremony but did not have to recite the oath.
According to Blazovic, also the administrator for Lake Hopatcong Cruises which owns the Miss Lotta, the boat will operate five days a week, Thursday through Monday, with a variety of cruises including historical cruises of the lake, lunch cruises and dinner cruises. The boat, she said, can also be booked for private events. For more information or to contact Blazovic email her at lhc@campsix.net or call 973-663-5000.
