From celebrities to castles to amusement parks, Lake Hopatcong had it all and the Lake Hopatcong Museum-now re-opened to the public- has much of the memorabelia from yesteryears preserved and displayed throughout it's quaint location, inside the gates of the Hopatcong State Park.

Located in a rustic 19th century building which served as a lock tender’s house on the Morris Canal, the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum offers an entertaining and enlightening look at the history of New Jersey’s largest lake.  Recognized as one of the finest small museums in New Jersey, a visit will bring you back to an era when Lake Hopatcong was a major northeastern resort and some 40 hotels and rooming houses graced its shores.
