Lake Hopatcong Foundation honors donors

JEFFERSON – The Lake Hopatcong Foundation honored some of its founding members Sunday, unveiling a plaque listing the names of donors who contributed $100 or more during the Foundation’s first year.
113 donor names are listed on the large bronze plaque that is hanging on the lake-side wall of the Lakeland Marine Base building, home to the Foundation office, in Nolan’s Point. LMB donates office space to the Foundation.
Between very short bursts of rain, Jessica Murphy, Foundation president, thanked the fifty or so guests for “believing in the cause right from the start” and for attending the plaque dedication ceremony. Murphy also thanked Camp Six, parent company of LMB and the Szigethy family, proprietors of Camp Six. (Editor’s note: Camp Six is the parent company of Lake Hopatcong News.)
Established in 2012, the Foundation is dedicated to protecting and improving the lake through events and initiatives such as the lake-wide cleanup in November of 2013 and the upcoming Lake Hopatcong Block Party at Hopatcong State Park.
