JTFD #2 5K Inferno Run/Walk

The Jefferson Township Fire Department #2’s annual 5K Inferno Run/Walk was held today. 222 runners from all over the area participated in this fundraising event at the Firemen’s Field off of Rte. 15 in Lake Hopatcong. The weather cooperated; it didn’t rain, and there was a nice breeze. The run started and ended at Fireman's Field, 759 Route 15 South, in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. It continued on Swan Lane, 3 Rivers Drive, Venetian, Valencia Isle Drive, Espanong Road, Route181, Yacht Club Drive, Crescent Drive, Harbor Drive, and Commodore Drive. Proceeds from the race benefit the Jefferson Township Fire Department’s training and exercise programs.

With a time of 17:03.97, Chris Sauer, 19, of Sparta came in first for the men. Mark Williams, 39, of Columbia, came in second with a time of 17:57.82, and Evan Riedos, 18, of Mt. Bethel, came in third finishing with a time of 18:03.93.

It was a photo finish for the women with Jenna Bessemer, 20, of Lk. Forest, coming in first at 21.:26.23 NS Regina Duncan, 16, of Blairstown just hundredths of a second behind at 21:26.57. Dana Kalczuk of Hamburg finished third at 21:36.58.
