Hurricane Irene is expected to bring heavy rain and wind to New Jersey this weekend, particualrly on Sunday. According to projections, the storm could still be a hurricane when it hits the area, meaning sustained winds of more than 74 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service warns that this is the time to prepare your home for the storm, by securing outdoor furniture and bringing potentially windswept items indoors. Once the storm arrives, residents are advised to find safe shelter and remain indoors.
If the projected course of Hurricane Irene stays on track, Lake Hopatcong could once again cross into “high water-level, no wake” status, as it did earlier this month. To keep tabs on Lake Hopatcong's water level, click here.
