Hundreds enjoy annual Taste of Roxbury

ROXBURY – Hundreds of hungry people packed the cafeteria at Roxbury High School for the ninth annual Taste of Roxbury fundraiser Monday, enjoying a wide variety of food offered by 18 local eateries.
According to Bruce Bristol, past president of the Roxbury Chamber of Commerce, 320 tickets were sold in advance of Monday’s event, raising $8,000 that will be distributed between a half dozen local organizations.
The high school cafeteria is a new location for the event, said Bristol, citing a growing interest, better parking and larger facility. Bristol said the event could, in the future, grow to 500 ticket holders.
“This is a very exciting thing for the Chamber,” said Linda Dora, event chairman. “It’s always a huge success and great fundraiser for local organizations. It also gets all the restaurants great recognition.”
