Heat Wave Hits the Lake H Area

With temperatures nearly reaching triple digits, a heat advisory in effect, and several air quality alerts in place, the Lake Hopatcong area is facing record-setting heat this week.
On Tuesday, temperatures on the lake reached 98 degrees, tying a 1999 record, and Wednesday the sunshine continued, along with 96-degree temperatures. Area residents get a slight break on Thursday, with temperatures forecast to stay in the 80s, and chance of rain showers and thunderstorms to help cool things down.
The heat wave stretches all along the East Coast, and is resulting in serious warnings to residents (particularly infants and the elderly) to keep hydrated and stay indoors or in shady areas.
