ABBA Girlz dazzle theater crowd

The ABBA Girlz wowed the audience this past Saturday night as the third installment of the 2014 Camp Jefferson Highlights Summer Concert Series was held at the Art Bonito Amphitheatre.
In addition to the concert, the Amphitheatre also played host to Rotary Night, which celebrated the Jefferson Rotary Club, an organization that, since 1965, has been dedicated to helping make Jefferson a better place to live.
The tribute band, which covers songs from popular Swedish Band ABBA, got audience members dancing in their seats and in front of the stage. The band performed classics such as “Dancing Queen,” “Take A Chance on Me,” “Money, Money, Money” and songs from the hit musical “Mamma Mia!” which is based on the songs of ABBA. These include title song “Mamma Mia,” and “Honey Honey”.
The ABBA Girlz consists of Halina as Frida and Agnes as Agnetha. Both women declined to give their last names for this article.
The New York City based band has been touring throughout North America since 2009 and, in 2012, was featured on the popular Comedy Central television show, “The Colbert Report.”
The group encouraged members of the audience to get up out of their seats and dance along to the music. The front of the theater, in between the stage and the front row seats, allowed audience members to dance while the band was playing. The audience clearly had fun during the show, participating when the band told them to, and singing along to classic ABBA Songs.
When asked how they thought the show went, Agnes stated:
“We thought it was great. This is our third time here and we loved it. We loved the audience they were great participaters.”
During the show, the band invited the children to come out near the stage and dance along to their songs. Halina acknowledged that this is one of her favorite parts of the show, stating.
“I love when the children come out to the front of the stage and when the audience participates.”
The audience seemed to enjoy participating in the show as well. Amy Grant, of Parsippany, completely agreed.
“I thought it was great.”
V. James, Castiglia, a member of the Jefferson Rotary Club from Oak Ridge, was incredibly pleased with the turn out at the concert.
“I thought it was great. I am glad everyone attended the show and we really appreciate Art and everything he does.”
Some believe that the Art Bonito Amphitheater should be a place more should know about, such as Madeline Brennan of Lake Hopatcong.
“I thought the show was fabulous. I loved when the children went out and participated in the show. It’s too bad more people don’t know more about this place. I’d like to see more come out in support of these shows.”
“I liked it. I thought it was awesome, it was very entertaining,” says Andrew Baker-Marasco of Sparta.
The 2014 Jefferson Highlights Concert Series continues to wow audiences with the impressive array of talent that keeps audiences coming back for more.
