Lake Conversations: Out With the Old, In With the New PDF  | Print |  E-mail

We've rung in a new year, and it's difficult to believe the Y2K craziness was now more than a decade ago.  What will you remember most about 2009, and what are you hoping for in 2010?

And, as every media outlet has been pointing out, it's also the end of the '00 decade.  It started with quite a year—the epic flood on Lake H—and ended with the exact opposite, a summer kickoff with low water levels.  What will you remember most?  What do you hope to see in the '10 decade?  Share your thoughts here.

Happy New Year, and New Decade!  Thanks for kicking it off with LakeHopatcongNews.com.  Cheers to a year of sunny days, calm evenings, and just enough rainfall to keep things humming.

When the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club celebrated its centennial, we obviously had a lot of fun times. It was right in the middle of the decade - 2005 - and included a great celebration. But my favorite part was seeing those two beautiful sand-bagger boats moored in front of the club. A curious mix of old and new, which is exactly what Lake Hopatcong is all about.

Happy new year, folks. A toast to many more.

I think of how lucky we are to be able to spend our summer on the lake, watching our kids grow, and relaxing with friends. I will remember the beach party when the lake was down, the loss of a dear friend while sailing, many, many great times at the yacht club, and the winter festival. Looking forward to watching the next generation enjoy the lake as much as we have.
Happy New Years to all and smooth sailing in 2010
