On Sunday, December 6, the Knee Deep Club of Lake
Hopatcong will be stocking 2,600 6 to 8 inch Channel Catfish into Lake
Hopatcong. The club will shore stock starting a 8AM from Lee's County Park then
move on to the Windlass Restaurant and Dow's Boat Rental until all of the fish
are released. This will be the fifth time the club has stocked Channel Catfish
in Lake Hopatcong. The Division of Fish & Wildlife also stock the lake will
Channel Catfish raised at it's Hackettstown Hatchery. During the last Five years
the number and size of these fish being caught have increased because of
these stockings. In this years Catfish Contest, held by the club, first place
was taken by a 17lb 7oz. fish followed by a 17lb. 4oz fish and third
place was 15 lbs. Jim Archambault of Hopatcong leads this years Year Long
Contest with a 18lb 1oz Channel Catfish.
